Client: Self (Konstfack)
Brief: Repeat Pattern
Title: Little Boy

Ultramarine blue.
Reactive color.
Linen, 2.2 m x 1m

Little Boy was the name of the atomic bomb dropped in Hiroshima in 1945.

I designed a repeat-pattern for textiles that appears to be for a little boy at first glance — but at a closer look, images of war can be seen. Little Boy (the pattern) plays with the tragedy and the irony behind the bomb name.

Usage: The print is to be used in small quantities (for instance, on wooden chair seats or to cover books). The choice of linen as a material and the ultramarine blue are inspired by the fabrics traditionally used in Japan to cover saké kegs.
